Activated carbon - Top-level filtration

Activated carbon is carbon that has been treated to be very porous – it has a huge number of tiny pores that provide a large surface area relative to its mass.

This makes it an excellent adsorbent.
As water flows through activated carbon, chemicals and impurities adhere to its porous surface.
Physical and chemical bonds bind these substances to the carbon, trapping them in the filter.

The process does not change the chemical composition of the water, but effectively removes impurities from it.

How often should the replacement filter be changed?

One filter filters up to 6,500 liters of water. Please note that the filter replacement interval can vary significantly depending on the local water quality – for example, the water in a city apartment and a summer cottage may be different.

Recommended replacement intervals:

1 person household: about 4 months

2-person household: approximately 2–3 months

3-person household: about 1 month
